Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days is a 2012 teen comedy film directed by David Bowers from a screenplay by Wallace Wolodarsky and Maya Forbes. It stars Zachary Gordon and Steve Zahn. Robert Capron, Devon Bostick, Rachael Harris, Peyton List, Grayson Russell, and Karan Brar also have prominent roles. It is the third film in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid film series and is based on the third and fourth books in the series, The Last Straw and Dog Days. The film was released on August 3, 2012. It is also Bowers' second live-action film.

The film begins with Greg Heffley (Zachary Gordon)
and his family have gone to the neighborhood pool, where Greg's younger
brother Manny washes his hands in the urinal. The next day, during the
last day of school, Greg eagerly waits for summer, and during the last
few minutes of school, Holly Hills
signs his yearbook and writes down her phone number, however Greg
notices she didn't finish her number, so Greg goes looking for her, and
succeeds. She attempts to complete her number, but her older sister,
Heather, insists on Holly getting into the car, which Holly does, not
able to finish the number. Rodrick Heffley, Greg's older brother who likes picking on him, flirts with Heather who in turn runs over his feet.
