According to Deadline, Jurassic Park 4 is back on and will be written by Rise of the Planet of the Apes hubby-and-wife scribes Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. The news comes after Steven Spielberg announced at Comic-Con last year that he'd like to see the movie get made in the next couple years.

After Apes ended up being a box office success, perhaps Silver and Jaffa can strike gold twice - or at least create something better than the pretty bad JP sequel The Lost World (1997) and the mediocre Jurassic Park III (2001). And let's hope and pray the once-rumored plot of dinos with guns as fourquel fodder has been effectively abandoned.

Judging by Johnston’s comments, it sounds like the fourth Jurassic Park will be an attempt to wipe the (narrative) slate clean from previous installments and introduce a whole new collection of characters. In other words, JP4 is being fashioned as a rebooting sequel along the lines of the upcoming G.I. Joe: Retaliation. Frankly, that’s probably for the best, given that it’d be tricky to justify bringing back part or all of the main cast members from the previous Jurassic Park films.

On the technical side of things, Jurassic Park 4 does stand to benefit from the vast improvements in digital effects technology over the past decade since JP3 was released; not to mention, there’s a good chance the film could be shot in 3D – and, let’s be honest, seeing Velociraptors or the Tyrannosaurus Rex in three dimensions could be pretty cool.

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace is a 1999 American epic space opera film written and directed by George Lucas. The film follows the Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi, who escort and protect Queen Amidala in traveling from the planet Naboo to the planet Coruscant in the hope of finding a peaceful end to a large-scale interplanetary trade dispute. The film also features a young Anakin Skywalker before he became a Jedi, introduced as a young slave boy who seems to be unusually strong with nascent powers of The Force, and must contend with the mysterious return of the Sith.

Lucas began production of this motion picture after he had concluded that the science of movie special effects had advanced to the level of what he wanted for his fourth film in the Saga. Its filming took place during 1997 (started on June 26, 1997) at various locations including Leavesden Film Studios and the Tunisian desert. Its special effects included extensive use of computer-generated imagery (CGI), with some of its characters and its settings being completely computerized and not existing at all in the real world.

It was announced in December 2008 that the production company DNA Films was to make a film adaptation of 2000 AD comic book character Judge Dredd and would be unrelated to the 1995 film version.
