It is a Diwali film completely. It has a combination of everything from comedy to romance to action.Two weeks before the release of Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Ajay Devgn sent an intimation notice to Yash Raj Films through their lawyer at the Competition Commission of India. The notice accused Yash Raj Films of monopolistic business practices and stated that they used "their dominant position in the Bollywood film market" to secure many high quality single-screens for their release. Son of Sardaar which is scheduled to release the same day.Ajay Devgn wanted a clash and was only sending this notice to publicize his film. Lastly, Yash Raj Films stated it was unfair to say they were in a dominant position. The first promo of this film was performed at Nashik (Tri-reshmi Buddhaleni at Dadasaheb Falke Smarak) on 26 January 2012.The planned release date of the film (February 24 2012) preceded the completion of Assembly Elections in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand on March 3 2012. Because of the film's controversial topic, the director acceded to pressure to postpone the release.There is strong criticism of the film by the right Hindu activists (Bajrang Dal and Shiv Sena) due to the highly volatile nature of the film. They argue that film is dividing the Hindu society due to its hateful contents and Hindu activists are demanding ban on the film. The story follows media, politics, crime and romance at the point of life and death. Samar Grover (Emraan Hashmi) is a struggling news reporter. Even though his talk show is at the pinnacle of success, his personal life has turned upside down due to problems with his wife (Sagarika Ghatge). Seeing no way out, he accepts an assignment offered by a dynamic media tycoon named Lisa (Neha Dhupia), which he believes can make him millions. However, along with Lisa, one of India's most richest man, Roger Khanna (Aditya Pancholi), together play a game on Samar, which plunges him into a vortex of violence in a deadly game of cat and mouse. Beneath the veneer of glamour, money, power and the enviable life of media, lays a truth that is at once unbelievable and shocking.The concept for Rush was conceived in 2010 by Shamin Desai. In late 2010, he had titled the film Raftaar 24x7 and had cast Emraan Hashmi and Sagarika Ghatge. In early 2011, Desai passed away, and the film was shelved and reported to be cancelled. In October 2011, Shamin's wife Priyanka Desai announced that she would rewrite the film and complete it as a memorial for her late husband. In January 2012, the film started production under the title Play. After filming several scenes, it was announced that the film had been renamed once again, to Rush.
